Transfer Tactics are Costing the Spurs a Fortune

The Spurs just can't seem to figure out how to work with the transfer market. In fact, they have made very few successful moves in that department. Yes, they sold Michael Carrick for a successful £18.6 million to Manchester United after purchasing him from West Ham two years before for only £2.75.

Moves such as buying Sergei Rebrovs for a massive fee only to sell him for a fraction of the cost has taken large chunks out of the Spurs' pocket. Now the Spurs are looking to profit handsomely from Berbatov. This will undoubtedly be used to purchase a high-end striker who will most certainly improve the Spurs position in the standings. David Villa would work and costs only £20 million.

This would leave the Spurs with a healthy profit, but that money is already spent. They are estimating financial losses on the sale of two other players. Darren Bent is rumoured to be heading over to Everton translating into an £8 million loss for the Spurs. Younes Kaboul will cost the Spurs another £6 million when he joins Portsmouth.

Heads are going to roll after these moves in the transfer market. These are major dents in the finances even for clubs like the Spurs who have a healthy pocket book. It isn't the selling of these players it is the buying. Tottenham shouldn't have bought those two in the first place since the best thing they've done is keep the bench warm. Hopefully they start to think about the future when they buy because it won't take long to destroy a club who has good chances of becoming a big four if they play their cards right.
